The British LUXLife magazine chose Kouvola Liquorice as the best licorice manufacturer in the Food & Drinks Awards category for the third year in a row.
The winners of the LUXLife magazine competition are selected by an impartial internal panel, which includes members from the fields of business, economics, politics and media, for example. The selection criteria in the competition include the longevity of the company's business, business growth, significant innovations and feedback received by the company.
This year, the official title is Best Luxury Liquorice Manufacturer 2022 , and in addition to the best licorice manufacturer, awards were also given to, for example, a leading food and wine producer.
International recognition is important to Kouvola Licorice, as the company plans to significantly increase its exports in the future. Currently, 20–25 percent of its products are exported abroad, such as to Sweden, Germany, Italy, Canada, England, Japan and the United States.
- Whether it's a local store in Kouvola or an Italian luxury store, we want to keep the supply chains from the factory to the points of sale as short as possible. Freshness has always been a matter of pride for us, says Timo Nisula , Managing Director of Kouvola Lakritsi .
The capacity increase needed for exports will be achieved when Kouvola's second Lakritsi factory starts operations in Kouvola at the beginning of 2023. The old factory will also continue its operations.
- In addition to the increased production capacity, the new factory building also enables other new functions for our domestic customers. A factory store and a lunch restaurant have already been opened in connection with the factory. The building will also be rented out to other operators and meeting and event facilities for companies, says Nisula.
