The Kouvola Liquorice Factory Store will open its doors next Tuesday next to the new licorice factory in the center of Kouvola. The opening week will be held from Tuesday to Saturday, November 15–19. The opening festivities will culminate on Friday with a ribbon cutting and cake and coffee.
The Kouvola Lakritsi factory store, located in the premises of the former commercial college, will open on Tuesday at 9:30.
During the opening week, in addition to fresh-baked liquorice, there will be tastings and offers. On Friday, Kouvola Liquorice's CEO Timo Nisula will also cut the ribbon at 9:30 a.m. After this, cake and coffee will be served to the first 300 people.
– Here it would finally be. Customers and us have been hoping for a factory outlet for years. With the new factory, this was finally possible, says Nisula happily.
The factory outlet's selection includes various licorice and marmalade products, as well as other related products from shirts to canvas bags. The trump cards are freshness and special batches.
– Licorice doesn't get any fresher than this. Some of the products are also unique and can't be bought anywhere else. The selection also includes products created with partners and products designed specifically for gifts. It's worth keeping the factory outlet in mind for Christmas, says Nisula.
The selection includes, for example, jewelry designed in collaboration with Kouvola-based jewelry manufacturer Littlebit Design and licorice tea made with Finnish tea house Forsman Tee . In addition, the lunch restaurant Ruokala 57 opens on the street level next to the factory outlet . The restaurant can also be rented for events and meetings.
– Ruokala 57 gets its name from the factory address and the building's history as a school. Lunch is served on weekdays from 11 am to 2 pm, and we also offer small savoury and sweet snacks during the factory shop's opening hours, says Ruokala 57's restaurateur Juha Rouhiainen.
The new licorice factory is also scheduled to start operations in November, when the licorice press and packaging machine arrive. Later, guided tours of the factory will be available. In the future, an event and business village will also be opened in the complex.
