Kouvola Liquorice introduced Lakuglög to the Christmas market, which, in addition to licorice, has hints of cranberry and lingonberry. The novelty is naturally intended to pamper licorice lovers, but the product is believed to be of interest to other seekers of Christmas delicacies as well.
– The goal was to create something unique and seasonal. We carefully developed the recipe to find the right balance between the strong taste of licorice and the traditional mulled wine spices. Lakuglög gives both a chance, describes CEO Santeri Nisula.
LICORICE TRADITION FOR CHRISTMAS
Over the years, the Licorice Factory has gained experience in creating a wide variety of licorice delicacies – currently, the online store's selection includes Kouvola Licorice's own licorice powder, licorice spread and licorice sauce. Lakuglögi is the first product clearly targeted at Christmas.
– We have always been looking for ways to bring the rich taste of licorice into new experiences, and so developing glögg felt natural, Nisula opens. – We wanted to combine traditional Finnish licorice and the favorite drink of the Christmas season in a new way.
The novelty has already proven to be a Christmas hit, as the mulled wine has already sold out in the online store once. The CEO, who was pleasantly surprised by the extent of its popularity, is particularly pleased that new gourmets who appreciate quality can find their way to licorice through the Christmas drink.
– Lakuglögi is a new product for us, but it is especially a tribute to the Finnish liquorice tradition. We want to continuously innovate it and make licorice available to more and more people.
