Kouvola's Licorice has launched a velvety soft licorice spread that is suitable for eating on its own, but also tastes wonderful as a filling for various pastries.
Licorice-sweetbread buns
(20 pcs)
5 dl milk
50 g yeast
(1 egg)
2 dl sugar
1 ½ tbsp cardamom
14-16 dl wheat flour
150 g melted butter or margarine
To the surface:
1 egg
approx. 1 dl granulated sugar
Filling:
1-2 jars of Kouvola Licorice Licorice spread
5 dl whipping cream
¾ dl sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar

Measure lukewarm milk into a baking bowl and dissolve the yeast in it. Add (egg), sugar and cardamom. Mix.
Add the wheat flour while kneading and finally knead in the melted butter or margarine.
Let the dough rise under a cloth in a warm place. Knead the air bubbles out of the dough and roll it into a log.
Divide into equal-sized pieces and roll into small balls. Let rise under a cloth.
Brush with egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake at 225 degrees on the middle rack of the oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool.
Cut the tops off the buns and set aside. Spoon or pipe the licorice spread into the center of the bun.
Whip the whipping cream and season with sugar and vanilla sugar. Pipe the licorice spread around and lift the bun lid.
