Licorice gingerbread house
1 gingerbread house
- 1 finished gingerbread house in parts
- 200 g sugar
- approx. 200 g icing sugar
- ½ egg white
- (black food coloring as needed)
- 1-2 kg Kouvola Licorice Licorice pieces
- Kouvola Licorice Licorice powder
Carefully remove the gingerbread house parts.
Put the sugar in a pan and stir constantly until the sugar melts. Dip the edges of the house pieces in the melted sugar and glue them together. Be careful of the hot sugar. Once the pieces are glued, lift the house onto a platter where you plan to display it.
Put the egg white in a bowl and add the icing sugar until you get a thick paste. Colour with black food colouring. This is not necessary, but if the icing sugar glue runs, it will be less noticeable with the licorice pieces.
Cut the licorice pieces in half lengthwise and apply powdered sugar glue to the cut surface of the pieces, then press the licorice pieces onto the roof and walls of the house. If you are lining all the walls and roof of the entire house with licorice pieces, you will need 2 kilograms of licorice pieces.
You can use licorice pieces to make paths in the yard, a campfire site, or anywhere your imagination allows. You can sprinkle licorice powder on the yard, on the house, or make a pile of it.
