Licorice bun waffles | Kouvola Licorice

Looking for a new twist on your laskiais buns? Try these fluffy and wonderfully licorice bun waffles! You can make the dough yourself or adjust the dough by buying it from a frozen store. In that case, add the licorice pieces to the melted dough.

Ingredients (8 servings)

Bun dough:

2 ½ dl milk

25 g fresh yeast

1 dl sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon cardamom

½ teaspoon salt

7-8 dl wheat flour

1 dl Kouvola Liquorice pieces

100 g butter or margarine

In addition:

Kouvola's Licorice Sauce or Licorice-Tinsel Sauce

Guide

  • Prepare the bun dough.
  • Warm the milk to room temperature and dissolve the yeast in it.
  • Add sugar, egg, cardamom, salt and wheat flour.

  • Finally, knead in the melted butter or margarine and chopped licorice pieces.
  • Let the dough rise under a cloth for about half an hour.
  • Knead the dough using wheat flour and divide into equal-sized pieces.
  • Roll into small balls and let rise under a cloth for about 15 minutes.
  • Roll the buns out thinly and fry in a hot waffle iron.
  • Serve with Kouvola Licorice sauce or licorice-crisp sauce and licorice pieces .
